NOTE:Each paper shall be of one-hour duration and the examination in all the three papers shall be held on the same day. The syllabus for the preliminary examination shall be the same as provided for Papers I to III for the Main examination. |
MAINS EXAMINATION
- PAPER I (GENERAL KNOWLEDGE) – 200 Marks
– Indian History and Indian Culture, Indian Geography, Indian Polity, Current National Issues, India and World, Indian Economy, International Affairs and Institutions, Developments in the field of Science and Technology, Communication and Space etc. - PAPER II (LANGUAGE) – 200 Marks
– (i) Essay to be written in English – 60 marks (ii) English Précis writing – 60 marks (iii) Translation of passage from Hindi to English – 40 marks (iv) Translation of Passage from English to Hindi – 40 marks - PAPER III (SUBSTANTIVE LAW) – 200 Marks
– Contract Law, Partnership Law, Law of Easements and Torts, Transfer of Property including Principles of Equity, Law of Trust and Specific Relief, Hindu Law and Mohammedan Law and Constitutional Law. NOTE: There shall be questions of 50 marks in relation to Constitutional Law alone. - PAPER IV (PROCEDURE & EVIDENCE) – 200 Marks
– Law of Evidence, Criminal Procedure Code, Code of Civil Procedure, including the principles of pleading. Framing of Charges and Issues, Judgment Writing - PAPER V (PENAL, REVENUE & LOCAL LAWS) – 200 Marks
– Indian Penal Code (50 Marks), Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act, Uttar Pradesh Urban Building (Regulation of Letting, Rent and Eviction) Act, Uttar Pradesh Municipalities Act, U.P. Panchayat Raj Act, U.P. Consolidation of Holdings Act, , Uttar Pradesh Urban (Planning and Development) Act (150 Marks)
NOTE: Minimum marks required – 35% marks in each law paper & 40% marks in aggregate (General); 30% marks in each law paper & 35% marks in aggregate (Reserved)
VIVA-VOICE: 100 Marks
NOTE: The Examination Body reserves the right to refuse to call for interview any candidate who has not obtained such marks in the Law papers as to justify such refusal.
